Project 2 Landscapes: Exercise 2- Sketchbook walk

I really enjoyed doing these sketches and finding interesting place near my home. However, as my main sketchbooks are still with my tutor I used a small A5 sketchbook which was portable and great for these sketches.

As I had enjoyed using a fine pen when drawing trees, I decided to use this for speed and to help expression. I also added coloured pencil to pick out focal points. I think the most successful composition is the third drawing in that I like the way the road sweeps round and then rises in a hump  towards the houses and the contrast between the trees and the telephone wires. The second image reminds me of George Shaw’s work with the door entrance lit up and the fading sun glinting off the roof window.
